Time for a mail post! 2.4

A postcard from my dear Lindsay who is in Korea right now.

A very hilarious card and letter from Mrs Jasmine.

A wedding card from my Julia.

One of my packages from Bianca's cd swap. Well, actually I never got the second one, so this is my only one. This is from Summer in Australia. (And I forgot to take a picture of the inside contents...)

I won Emilie's giveaway, and I was so excited! Lots of wonderful goodies in there! (which I forgot to take a picture of...)

 A lovely letter from Belen.

A long due letter from Annie in Belarus. I wrote to her a long time ago, but with life and everything, she wasn't able to write back til now. So it was nice to hear from her.

A letter from one of my oldest and dearest pen pals, Callie.

Katyha sent me a lovely package of postcards! It certainly brightened up my day when I got it.

Going out to new pen pal Lauren. She's the first to write to me from reading my blog, so that's very exciting for me :)
A reply to Belen (But not to the one that I just got)

A Waldo card for one of my best friends Theresa, and a letter for my sister-in-law. I sent a letter to my other sister-in-law a couple days previous to this, but of course I forgot to take a picture of it.

That's it for mail, but I want to show you some pictures of my mail guarding cats!

Rogue especially loves to sleep on paper. Seriously, she'll climb on my desk and just lie down on the exact letter that I'm trying to write/answer. I don't know how she knows...

Storm is the original letter keeper.

Have a lovely day, my friends!

Filling in the blanks 2.12

Play along at Lauren's

1.   Somewhere someone is  picking their nose.

2.  My husband   is my muse.

3.  It would suck if  the postal service  was no more because then I would just go stupid crazy.

4.  Getting a package in the mail  is/are my favorite thing about today.

5.  Life is kind of like   music on the radio. Sometimes you wanna turn it up and sing out loud, and sometimes you feel like you just keep changing the station to no avail.

6.  If I could have anything I wanted I would want a really nice dishwasher. Honestly, we don't have one and I don't always want to wash them after supper so then they sit there all week.

7.  A funny thing happened the other day...  the window in my office doesn't have a screen, but I had it open a little bit for fresh air. My cat was sitting on the windowsill, and suddenly I heard a scrape and a thud - she fell out of the window!! She thrashed around when she hit the ground, and then she laid totally motionless because she was freaking out. I went outside to get her and she had not moved an inch. She was okay, don't worry :)

List 2

Fill in the Blank Friday 2.11

1.   One thing that is completely superfluous, but that I could never give up is  my stationery addiction. I know I could just buy lined paper and be done with it, but I just can't.

2.  Sex scenes in movies   make me feel awkward.

3.  I can't  eat a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios  without  also having a piece of toast with Cheez Whiz.

4.  Popcorn/M&Ms  is my favorite snack.

5.  Lately I've been   stressing about finding a job. I don't have any confidence in myself to believe I can find a good one.

6.  If at first you don't succeed  take a deep breath, refocus, and try again.

7.  Fall is  the best! I love the leaves, the crispness of the air, the sweaters and boots that I get to wear again.

List 1: Goals for this month

I am participating in this round 30 Days of Lists and I am so excited! I almost forgot that today was the first, go me :P I didn't have time to make a fancy list today - I went over to my parents' today to help my mom prepare for a supper they were having for their employees today. I made a red velvet cake, but when it came time to add food coloring, there was no red left (we used it all for wedding cupcakes!! Mwahahaha!) So... I used green! It looked super freaky, but it tasted great. I made it a 2-layer cake, and instead of your normal cream cheese icing in the middle, I made a Nutella/white frosting shmear for it. Yummy!

Anyways, back to the task at hand...

Goals for this month:

1. Finish painting my bike and put it back together - I disassembled it a month ago and bought the paint. Then it sat there. Yesterday I did the first coat of primer, and hopefully by the end of next week I'll have it completely done. I am not looking forward to putting it back together :S

2. Read my Bible every day - I bought an ESV Bible last week, and a massive study version to boot. My previous one was a regular NLT, with your standard (fairly useless) concordance in the back. I really like it, but I've wanted a study Bible for a while, and at church they are using ESV more and more. SO after Chris convinced me, I finally bought one. So now I just  need to get into the habit of reading it every day. My problem with that is that I don't really like devotional books, so I never know where to read. I just want to read everywhere all at once! Bugh, so I'm just gonna do it. Wow, long enough explanation!

3. Catch up on my correspondence - I really feel bad about the letters sitting in my pile for a couple months at a time!! So I want to catch up and then come up with some kind of system that will allow me to reply more promptly.

4. Get a job! - Enough said! We need a bread-winner in this house!

My travelling mail bag.

Gracie is hosting a travelling mail kit giveaway, and to get extra entries, she asks what you would put in your travelling mail bag...  Sooo here is my collection of stationery must-haves!!

You can click on the picture to be taken to where you can purchase this loveliness! As you can tell, I have a serious stationery addiction. Ask my husband. It is not pretty... Anyway, I hope you enjoy my collection!

Playaway makes work happy.

Well, my friends, I have 2 days left at my job and then I'm out of there for good! Hurrah! Unfortunately, then I must find a real job. I've never really been unemployed before. I mean, I've been unemployed, but that was short term, or while I was a student. This is indefinitely. Scary business. So pray for me. I want a job that I can wear nice clothes to, and also where I can use my brain and talk to people. That's all I want. Simple, right?

Anyway, so the real reason for my post. A couple weekends ago Chris and I went to the public library, and I decided I needed some audio books. I figured I'd load 'em onto my iTunes, and then put them on my iPod. Then I found something that totally eliminated the need for that long process.

Introducing the Playaway audio book. This handy invention has made my work life better x100. So this is just your basic audio book, but it's on it's own little mp3 player-type device! Just plug in your headphones and go - simple as that! I chose books that I've never read before, so that it would be like killing two birds with one stone.

The books I've been "reading" the past week and a half:
Loved this one! Phileas Flogg reminded me of Sheldon Cooper.
I love you, Anne Shirley.
I fell in love with this book. (sorry for the crap picture)

This one bored me, honestly. This is one you need to read with your eyes, I think. Otherwise it just feels so repetitive. Also, Heathcliff is one of the worst literary characters (in terms of his personality/disposition) I have ever encountered and I loathed him. Sorry to anyone who feels differently.

This is another one that I would have preferred to read with my eyes. I'm so going as Hester Prynne for the next costume party I go to.

I've got some other books that I'll be listening to til the end of the week, and some other books that I'm reading with my eyes (hehe).

What are you reading these days?
