Confession time.

I hate Halloween.

Loathe it.

I think it's the stupidest "holiday" ever. What's the point? - dress up in costumes and eat candy from strangers. I'd rather stay at home in my sweats and buy my own chocolate to eat.

I think it's stupid when youth groups have alternative event things. I mean, it's not bad if your church does that. My church does that for the little kids. I just think it's stupid. Why are you even acknowledging it?

I guess my ideas about Halloween come from my parents, who did not dress us up and take us trick-er-treating once. I also remember listening to the Adventures in Odyssey episode about Halloween when I was a kid. And I honestly don't care to celebrate it.

Sorry if this rant post doesn't make any sense to you. But Halloween doesn't make any sense to me.

[I don't mean to offend anyone who happens to celebrate Halloween. It's just my opinion and you are welcome to yours and I don't think any less of you. I just think the whole holiday is stupid and pointless. Like Uggs with mini-skirts. Or Justin Bieber.]

  1. I agree one hundred and twenty percent with you on this. I had the joy of working at the mall tonight which happens to be the trick or treating and costume contest. Chaos, pure chaos. I had to hand out candy, and what disturbs me is some of the costumes little kids were wearing, vampires with blood dripping down their faces and kids dressed up like Satan. Pathetic. Don't parents care about their children?

  2. My family has always done the alternative things (or take my mom out for her birthday dinner), but, surprisingly, we're staying in tomorrow evening, we'll have the light on, and Mom bought candy for any kids who may come by.

I missed that Adventures in Odyssey episode.

P.s. I found a box of AiO tapes in our basement. I really, really want to listen to them on the way to work tomorrow. :)

  3. Completely agree! (And I almost never turn down an excuse for a good dress-up party!) We don't really celebrate it in Australia though, and like you my parents were down with it.

  4. I'm with you on this, Felicia! I don't like Halloween at all - the sooner it gets over, the better. Then we can get on to good holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas!
