Help, I'm alive, my heart keeps beating like a hammer. (Mail 1.8)

Hi friends. Yes, I suck at posting regularly. I've been working 10 hour shifts at work, so I don't have a lot of down time. I like sleeping over blogging, sorry to say.

Here is a belated mail post, covering the last 2 weeks.

Incoming:

A long awaited letter from Belen! Oh I was so happy to see it in my mailbox. And look at all the goooooodiesssss!!!!!! Belen, you are so sweet!! I have never received such a wonderful package before!

Postcrossing cards. I am sooo in love with the first one!!

Outgoing:

Letter to my church/school pal Megs in a homemade envelope.

Letter to my pal Steph. I'm so excited for Saturday, because me and a couple of my good friends are going out to visit her for the long weekend! Lake and relaxing - yay!! Hopefully the weather will be nice.

First letters going out to new pen pals from the postcrossing forum.

I ordered some stationery and postcards from Amazon. The postcards are on backorder, but I cannot wait to get them. I got my stationery today and I was very very excited.

I am loving the Milton fold and mail stationery. I totally laughed when I saw this, because Chris' roommate's cat is named Milton! I just had to get it.

Is this not so cute?!?! "All you need is lobe?" I LOBE it!!

A couple weeks ago I woke up and I wanted a haircut. So that afternoon I went to see my hairdresser. Here are before and after pics.

Oh I love having short hair. It suits me so much better and it feels nicer in summer!

On Sunday Chris and I had a very fun retro date. We went to a 50's diner and a drive-in movie!! The food at the diner was fantastic! So good, seriously. I'd never been to a drive-in movie before, but I had always wanted to go. And now I've been. We saw Iron Man 2, which I love, because I think Iron Man is the best superhero (plus Robert Downey Jr is soooo hoooootttt). I'd like to go when they have a triple feature.

We're weirdos, yes.

So for those of you that don't know, Chris is a very fantastic artist. Apparently I gave him a great idea, and he's going to start making postcards to sell online and stuff. I hope all you wonderful mail artists and postcrossers out there will help him out and buy his stuff. Here's a preview of one of his series. He's calling it "Fat Ninja" - what does a ninja do after his craft is no longer required?

I told Chris that I want to marry this ninja, but since I can't, I'll have to stick to the artist. ;)

Have a wonderful day, my lovelies! :D

Steal my heart and hold my tongue. (Mail 1.7)

Hola, mi amigas! As we know, it is Monday!

A sweet letter from Jiahui from Taiwan. Love the Charlie Brown envelope!

I got my last card from Deana, which I failed to take a picture of, and also received a letter from my friend Tiffany, who is one of my oldest and dearest friends. She also happens to live about 3 feet away from me. Okay, not 3 feet. Maybe more like 7 miles. Still. It was nice.

Outgoing:

Card to Deana. We sent each other 10 blank cards, and then sent them back to each other written and stamped. This was the last of hers.

A reply to my sweet Russian Julia.I bought a new stationery set and i think it's so beautiful!! I also included a magnet that I bought at the Forks, because I figured I should be nice and send people stuff.

First letter to Justyna.

First letter to Annie.

Because my mailbox has been so sad lately, I decided to get some more pen pals from the postcrossing forum. I have had some lovely responses already, so I'm excited to get to know these women.

I saw the Queen!

But first, here are some pictures from my brother's grad last weekend...

Me and my siblings.

Estela (one of my bestest friends), me, and Chris.

My family. <3

So yesterday I went to the Forks in Winnipeg with my boyfriend. We had fun walking around. I bought a ton of postcards :D We walked up to the top of the lookout tower and this is what we saw.

We don't often take pictures of ourselves, but yesterday we took a few. I gotta show us off somehow ;)

We found these terrible "shades" (more like vision blockers) but doesn't Chris look fly in them?

...or maybe these are better?

They are building a human rights museum at the Forks, and I just love watching the progress every time I go. I thought these cranes made a good shot.

As we walked along we heard some music, so we went to go listen. It was an orchestra (maybe the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra... I didn't catch who it was specifically). They played a piece from the Pirates of the Caribbean, among others. That made me happy.

I bought a new nose ring. Holy Hannah, did that ever suck putting it in. I kinda bent it outta shape too... I mostly fixed it by now.

As we sat and listened to the music, we heard an amazing announcement: Queen Elizabeth, the Queen of England, was on her way over to the Forks! We were actually witnessing the pre-celebrations!! We couldn't believe our astounding luck to just happen to wander over to hear the music, instead of walking straight to the car!

And there she is! Our best view was on the screens, but we did actually see her actual person! There were too many people between us and her for me to get a really good view, but I saw her!

See that pathetic arrow I drew? That's where she was! So I can say that I have seen the Queen! Awesome!

Knowledge of what is possible is the beginning of happiness.

Oh friends, how much things can change in a week. I feel like myself again.

Last weekend was wonderful. I had the chance to meet the rest of my boyfriend's family, who were visiting from Alberta. I was really nervous to meet them but it turned out great :D We met up at a casino in the city. I had never been to a casino before, so it was a day of firsts for me. Man, I felt like I had ADD - my attention was going everywhere! It was really fun. We ate supper at their buffet, and then went to lose some money. I only lost $5, because that's all I would allow myself to haha. After that we went to see Toy Story 3. Man, what a blast from the past! I thought it was pretty decent. I'm not the biggest fan of endless sequels, but I appreciate that Toy Story doesn't needlessly pump them out like the Shrek franchise. Oy.

Sunday was my little brother's high school graduation. What?!? I'm old now!! I can't believe that I've already been graduated for 5 years. The kids that graduated were in grade 7 when I was in grade 12. Wild... During the ceremony the power went out. That was fantastic. During this time the chamber choir did their bit. When they were done the director made a grand sweeping motion with his arm... and the lights came back on! It was amazing! I was so proud when my brother walked across the stage for his diploma. That evening we had a party at my aunt and uncle's house to celebrate my brother and cousins graduating. My relatives are weird. I definitely know that my weirdness is hereditary. And I love them all for it.

Yesterday was Canada Day. Oh yay for days off of work!! And yay for Canada! I spent the day with the bf and my "mama" Theresa. Oh my gosh, we are crazy. We had a picnic inside because it was too humid outside. Then we watched The Incredibles. One of my favorite Pixar movies. We made pizza for supper, and Theresa and I used our Mennonite accents so much that I actually started thinking with that accent. And yet my patient man stood by and laughed at us. My goodness, how did I ever find someone so patient with my craziness? We walked out to enjoy the fireworks, joined by my old comrade Estela. Nothing better than a good fireworks show with good friends. We were the last people to leave the park, I think. We stayed out there til well after midnight, just talking and laughing. And it was so gorgeous out there. Warm summer breeze, amazing display of stars, and lightning in the distance. The perfect summer night.

This week my sister and I have been painting the living room for my mom. It's so gorgeous now (or at least as much as we could make it with paint and wallpaper). I should take a picture, but we haven't put everything back yet. But it's lovely. It looks like chocolate milk. I love chocolate milk.

All these lovely events have been definitely been helping me since my last post. Like I said, I feel like myself again. It's good.
