January has hit southern Manitoba.

Hi kids! Did you all have a good Christmas and New Year? I had wonderful holiday, albeit very busy, but the January blahs have set in. Does anyone else experience that? I just want to sit and watch movies all the time. But for my School of Ministers program, we are doing a media fast, so basically: no non-Christian movies, books, or music. Added to that, we still don't have Internet at home. Even more added to that, we cancelled our data plan on our phones. Yes, Felicia is living a life of extreme forced boredom. So what to do?
Our Christmas gift from my parents! Yay! The cats love it - they look so comfy when they lie on it all day.

Go to our favourite café to have a wi-fi and chai latte date with Chris.
Do a 30 letters in 31 days project.
Join the League of Extraordinary Penpals (so excited!!!)
Get a copy of Les Miserables (from the church library, so it must be allowed!).
Dream up plans (that you may or may not hear about in the near-ish future *winkwink*)

My handsome husband on Christmas day at his parents. Wearing a shirt that I gave him for Christmas.

Along with those things, I am also doing a Postcrossing challenge with myself. Last year I only sent out 16 postcards! Pathetic! So this year I'm challenging myself to send out a card a week. I bought a little day planner from Dollarama (Disney Princesses! And Rapunzel, my favourite of all, is on my birth-month ! It's May, for future reference...) to keep track of my mail this year so I can see it in a more linear fashion than my other mail log notebook.

My Christmas gift from my dear Jasmine. Such a sweetheart.
What are some of your goals for 2013? How are you combating the January blahs? Do my friends in the Southern hemisphere experience January blahs too?

A letter to someone I want to give a second chance to.

Dear self I want to be,

I've decided that I'm not hopeless, and I'm going to strive for you after all. I've felt static for so long, but that's gonna change.

See you later,
Felicia

A letter to someone I judged by their first impression

Dear Nichole,

I've only known you since December, when I started working with you. I thought it was going to be hard. You seemed like a know-it-all, and apparently you'd only been there a month. I was a bit apprehensive about working with you, but you proved me wrong.

Cheers,
Felicia

A letter to someone that isn't in my province.

Dear Callie,

My lovely friend, how happy I am to know you! And now your life is changed forever, now that your baby boy has entered the world. I hope that some day I will get to meet you face to face, and I hope that day will be sooner than later. I have lots more to say, but I will save that for the letter I will write you on real paper, and send it to you for your eyes only ;)

SDF2F,
Felicia

A letter to someone that pesters my mind.

Dear model in the magazine,

I wish you wouldn't make me feel so bad about myself. I really dislike you, but it's nothing personal. I'm working on my self-esteem. And I know that I probably feel better about myself than you feel about yourself, which is truly sad.

Go eat some pasta and ice cream for dessert. You'll feel better.

A letter to someone I don’t talk to as much as I'd like to.

Dearest Michelle,

How are you doing? How is life? Any romance going on? These are the questions I would ask you if we were sitting in a Starbucks with lattes in hand. I know that I don't make it out to the city as often as I'd like, and now with the end of school looming and wedding plans it's even less. But someday, when I'm graduated and working, I will call you and set up a coffee date. Becuase you're a sweetheart and I don't want to lose touch.

Talk to you soon,
Felicia

A letter to the person I miss the most.

Dear Estela,

I wish you would stop leaving me for Mexico. I miss our movie nights and cooking lessons. But I know that's a part of you, and I don't hold it against you at all. I just miss you when you're gone. I'm happy that you'll be coming back in a month, and that you'll be standing up there with me when I get married. When I have my own house you'll have to come over and we'll watch Anne of Green Gables together (only takes us a year to get around to it!)

I love you, Sugar Bean!

A letter to a stranger.

Dear lady from the Kutless concert,

I can't remember your name, but I sure did have a good time chatting with you while we were waiting for the doors to open. I felt like I'd known you forever. I remember talking about being single, and you told me to be patient, God had the right man for me. I wish I could find you again, and tell you that little did I know, my future husband was at the same concert, and he saw me there, and talked to me. Then a couple weeks later he would ask me out. I doubt you would remember that conversation, but I will always remember how full of joy you were, and the peace that radiated from you. I wish I could be like that. Some day I will. I know that comes after years of walking closely with God.

I wish you all the best,
Felicia

A letter to someone who changed my life.

Dear Fiancé,

You have changed my life, in so many ways. Before you came along I was depressed (literally) and I honestly thought I would never know what it was like to love and be loved in return. A year later, here we are, and we're getting married! Really, that is enough said, because I always said that marriage was scary, and I would know when it was right because I wouldn't be scared anymore. Well, I was partly right. I'm still scared sometimes, but I know that you won't leave me, and you'll hold my hand for the rest of our lives. So I would say that's pretty life-changing. Thanks <3

Love forever,
your future wife

A letter to someone who has caused me pain.

Dear you,

I remember my first encounters of you. There was something about you that I just didn't like. I had a feeling that I shouldn't let you in. I felt kind of bad about that, but that's just the truth. Our paths kept crossing, and you kept trying to befriend me, yet I just couldn't see why. Eventually we ended up in a cell group together, and I thought that maybe you had changed. Slowly we began to talk and hang out, and then one day I called you one of my best friends.

Then things started to change again. You started to give me that initial feeling I had about you. I didn't want to spend time with you and I didn't know why. So I stopped texting all the time, and I didn't enjoy our drives to the city like I used to.

Finally, one day, I had enough of your drama, and I left the party without saying goodbye. That set you off, and you didn't talk to me for over 2 months, even though I apologized several times. I felt really bad at first, but then I could see that I was better off without you, and I stopped feeling bad. Now we're on speaking terms again, but I feel like you want to pretend nothing happened. I'm not going to let you in again, but I'm glad that at least we can be in the same room and be civil.

You can be really nice sometimes. I think that if you learned to let go, like I had to learn, you would be a lot happier.

All the best,
Felicia

A letter to a deceased person I wish I could talk to.

Dear Jack,

Is it alright if I call you Jack? I know that only your closest friends called you that, but I like to think that we would have been friends, had we lived in the same place, same time, same circumstances. I love your works. They resonate with me in a way that I truly appreciate.

Someday I will meet you. I know I will, in the true reality, the place that is more real than anything else I have experienced, in the real Narnia. We have all of eternity to meet up and chat about our Lord.

You went against the flow. I appreciate that. I hope that someday I will be able to be as eloquent and strong as you, Mr. Lewis.

Sincerely,
Felicia

A letter to a person I wish I could meet.

Dear Chris Martin,

You are the most wonderful songwriter in existence. I love you. No really. Please keep making the loveliest music that ever resonated in my heart.

PS I think you're so attractive because your name is Chris. That just seems to happen to me lately.

Your devoted fan,
Felicia

A letter to someone from my childhood.

Dear Jessica,

My goodness, how our lives have gone in different directions. We still live in the same town but we might as well live on separate continents. I was sorry to hear that things didn't work out with him, but then I also hear from my mom what you're up to (since our mothers are still dear friends) and I kind of wonder what goes through your head these days. At any rate, we had good times as kids. I hope you find your way back and remember those days once again.

God bless,
Felicia

A letter to the person I want to tell everything to, but am afraid to.

Dear boyfriend,

At this point in our relationship, I'm finding that I need to share with you more and more the deep things in myself. I am more than happy to tell you the happy secrets. But there are some ugly things as well, things I can't even really handle, and I don't want to tell you these things. You keep telling me you want to know my heart, and I want you to know it better than I do... but at the same time, these terrible things that I loathe about myself, about my feelings, about my heart, and about my past... do you want to know them too? I'm scared. I know by now I have nothing to worry about... But if I don't like these parts and I don't even want to know them about myself, why would you?

Pray that I'll get over this. Because I need to tell someone, and I want it to be you.

Yours forever,
Felicia

A letter to someone I’ve drifted away from.

Dear Candida,

When I see you at church with your 2 daughters, I wish we still talked. They are beautiful and I just want to cuddle them while I talk to you about life. It's sad how it went, when you got engaged and I wanted to go to school, and we just started moving in opposite directions. But I'm almost done school, and I am in a relationship now, and I wish that maybe our lives would drift closer to one another. If that happens, I promise I'll throw out a rope and we'll see what happens. I remember our times when we used to laugh and share our hearts and be absolutely ridiculous and wear mis-matching socks together. I hope you remember these times as fondly as I do.

Your friend,
Felicia

A letter to someone I know that is going through the worst of times

Dearest Mama T,

When you told me your mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, I wanted to cry. I'm sorry that I don't always know the right thing to say when you talk about it. I wish I did. I hope that my shoulder and ears will be enough. I love you, and I have Kleenex in my purse these days. So let'er rip.

Love always and forever,
Your Feebee

A letter to my ex-crush

Dear ex-crush,

Thank God I gave you up. Not that there's anything wrong with you... Okay just the fact that you're exactly what I don't want. Praise the Lord that He brought exactly what I wanted into the picture to wake me up. God sure had other plans for me and for you. I think you're a good guy anyway. You have good taste in music. I hope you're treating your girlfriend as good as she deserves. She's fun.

Take care.

A letter to my reflection.

Dear reflection in the mirror,

Hi. I know we have had our struggles in the past. We even had a tiff yesterday. I know. But really, I have come to like you more and more. Sometimes I even think you're beautiful. I'm not sure why I don't think so all the time. But it helps that I have a wonderful boyfriend who seems to think your source is the best thing ever, and he tells me all the time. I know we have some things to work on, and there are some things I will never like about you plain and simple. However, the good far outweighs the bad, so I think I'll focus on those things.

Keep your chin up, gorgeous.

Yours always,
Felicia
